You know... Some of these gas-extending techniques work for regular cars, too, not just hybrids. For example, tire pressure and choosing proper routes. Tips like this should be tailored to people who cannot afford hybrid cars just yet.

I have a plain old gas powered 2001 Hyundai Elantra (stick). Ive been drafting what I would term semi-close, (probably 70ft or so) on a drive thats highway(55-70) speed the whole way. I went from about 32-34MPG, to 38. Definitely works. Mythbusters tested the drafting myth and confirmed it. They gained about 40% at 10ft (very dangerous!).

Hey Mike!

That is pretty darn good about your gas mileage. I'll have to use the truck's draft sometime and see if I get better mileage.

I take lots of short trips, so my mileage isn't that good most of the time. A few days ago I took a longer trip and averaged about 70 MPG most of the time. I was on US 1 (not a freeway), where the speed limit is 45 but most cars were going much slower. I stayed in a truck's draft part of the time, which helped.
